Jake and Anna Katherine’s Summer Wedding has been long awaited for them. The have been together since high school and had been waiting for their big day for quite some time. We asked the two of them to share a little bit about their love story with us.
“Jake and I met when we were in high school at County High, he was 14 and I was 15 (such babies)! We were at a mutual friends 16th birthday party at Baumhowers and sat next to each other and talked the whole night. Jake was the cutest (and still is) and I was obsessed with him from the beginning! It wasn’t long after that he started texting me and we went on a group date to watch a movie at a friends house…the rest is history! In April we will have been together for 10 years…crazy to think it’s been a decade since Jake asked me to be his girlfriend (I took some convincing and didn’t say yes right away lol). We dated throughout high school and I am a year older than Jake so I went to college while he was still in high school. Honestly, I didn’t know if we would still be together after that year, we were living completely different lives, but we made it work! I always loved Jake and had the best time with him throughout the years, but wasn’t sure if he was the one. It was sophomore year of college that something just clicked and I knew that I would marry him one day. Jake is the most patient, encouraging and gentle man with me…and trust me it takes a lot of patience to put up with me some days! When I graduated from Alabama I decided to move to DC to work and did not want to leave Jake, but knew it was the right thing to do for me at the time. Not gonna lie I cried every single say for 6 months, but Jake knew I was doing the right thing professionally for me and always listened and encouraged me when I called sobbing every night from missing him. It was the first time in 6 years that I did not see him almost every single day and it was rough. We made it through me being in DC for 3 years with lots of facetime calls and tried to see each other as much as possible but it was hard and expensive. When Jake proposed to me it was the best day and I immediately started making plans to move back to Alabama. I am so excited to be back with him and beginning our lives together finally! We are currently house hunting and Birmingham and are hopefully getting a puppy soon after buying a house!
How did Jake Propose? Anna Katherine had planned a trip to visit on of her best friends, Chelsea, in Nashville in June. She had never been to Nashville and had been promising Chelsea she would come down from DC to visit. Jake knew AK was going to visit Chelsea and saw this as the perfect opportunity to completely surprise her and have Chelsea’s help in planning the perfect proposal. AK flew into Nashville after work on Friday and Chelsea picked her up at the airport and they went out in Nashville for a casual, fun night on the town. For probably half the evening AK complained to Chelsea about how Jake still hadn’t proposed and she was getting annoyed at him…little did she know what was coming the next day. Side note- Chelsea is the sweetest, most honest person in the entire world and cannot lie to save her life, it is a miracle AK didn’t catch on to what she and Jake were planning.Since AK had never been to Nashville, she told Chelsea she was down for whatever that weekend and would let her plan out everything. Chelsea told her that they would meet up at Arrington Vineyards with her roommate and friends on Saturday and just have a chill day drinking wine and then go out that night. When they got to the vineyard on Saturday they were looking for Chelsea’s friends, but Chelsea was really looking for where Jake was waiting on AK. After wandering around for a few minutes they saw Jake sitting on a picnic table and AK knew what was happening, but was completely surprised and in shock…Jake was supposed to be at the beach that weekend snapper fishing (it was opening weekend and is always a big deal for Jake). Jake got down on one knee and asked Anna Katherine to spend her life with him, AK was in complete shock that he surprised her so well and of course said yes!
What do you love the most about the two of you? “Jake and I have basically grown up together…when you start dating at 14 and 15 you do not know who you are as a person and have so much to learn. We are so blessed to have met at such a young age, we’ve grow up and together with each other and have grown together so well. We are so excited for this next chapter of marriage and to continue to grow in our love for one another. Somehow Jake finds a way to make me fall more in love with him everyday!”
Jake and Anna Katherine are high school sweethearts and I’m so glad I got to capture their beautiful summer wedding!!
